- In a brochure advertising Ryegate, published in 1914 we have taken the following quote: "The Great Musselshell Valley, of which Ryegate is a part has been well known for forty years. It being along about the year 1871 that the cattle men began to use its rich grazing lands for the special winter quarters of their stock. Ryegate is a truly western town. This is a new town in a new county and has hardly passed the 4 year mark. It is situated on the main line of the Chicago Milwaukee and St. paul Railroad, being nearly centered between Miles City and Butte." *
* taken from "Bicentennial Golden Valley County Heritage '76" - Ryegate has well passed it's 4 year mark and the railroad no longer passes through, but it still holds some of the same sense of possibilities as in that early brochure. For more information on Ryegate please visit:

- Ryegate is included in the "Better for Business Program" and continues to work on assessment of the community to create a open and welcoming place for businesses and families.

Opportunities
- As with most small communities, it is a challenge to keep money circulating within it's own community rather than it going into large neighboring communities.
- The distance from large communities may pose problems when dealing with shipping, delivery and supplier services.
Community Vision
- Attract, encourage, and maintain new and expanding business.
- Continue to create and utilize programs set up in the community and county that benefit it's residents.
- Assessment of the community. Will cover wants and needs regarding the future of the community.
